Locul de muncă: Profesor Consultant la Departamentul de Fizică, Facultatea de Ştiinţe Aplicate, Universitatea "Politehnica" din Bucureşti, din 1 octombrie 2003.

 

Data şi locul naşterii: 01 Februarie 1933, Comuna Negoeşti (acum: Satul Negoeşti, Oraşul Baia de Aramă), Judeţul Mehedinţi.

 

Studii:

- Facultatea de Electronică şi Telecomunicaţii, Institutul Politehnic din Bucureşti; acum, Universitatea "Politehnica" din Bucureşti (1951 - 1956);

- Cursurile de pregătire în Fizică atomică şi nucleară, Catedra de Structura Materiei, Facultatea de Fizică, Universitatea din Bucureşti (1956 - 1957).

 

Specializări:

- Specializare în Metodele optice ale spectroscopiei hertziene (pompaj optic şi dublă rezonanţă magneto - optică) în Laboratorul de "Spectroscopie hertziană" (condus de prof. Alfred Kastler) la Şcoala Normală Superioară din Paris, ca bursier al Agenţiei Internaţionale de Energie Atomică din Viena (1963 - 1964).

 

Titluri Ştiinţifice:

Doctor, cu o teză de doctorat în domeniul Fizicii "Cercetări asupra unor nivele atomice ale mercurului cu ajutorul metodelor optice ale spectroscopiei hertziene" (1966). Doctoratul a fost făcut în specializarea "Bazele teoretice ale electrotehnicii" (conducător ştiinţific acad.prof. dr. docent Remus Răduleţ), Institutul Politehnic din Bucureşti

 

 

   Premii

- Premiul pentru Fizică "Constantin Miculescu" al Academiei Române, în anul 1977, pentru "Contribuţii la studiul proprietăţilor plasmei în aer cu ajutorul laserilor";

- Premiul pentru Fizică "Constantin Miculescu" al Academiei Române, în anul 1983, pentru "Grup de lucrări asupra laserilor cu catod cavitar şi unor probleme de optică neliniară";

- Premiul Opera Omnia, însoţit de plachetă pentru întreaga activitate de cercetare ştiinţifică, acordat de Consiliul Naţional al Cercetării Ştiinţifice din Învăţământul Superior, Ministerul Educaţiei şi Cercetării, în anul 2003;

- Premiul Opera Omnia (Dascăl pentru numeroase generaţii de ingineri, creator de şcoală şi ştiinţă în domeniul fizicii), acordat de Universitatea "Politehnica" din Bucureşti, Ministerul Educaţiei şi Cercetării, În anul 2004

 

   Distincţii

- 1971 - Medalia Muncii;

- 2007 - Doctor Honoris Causa, titlu decernat de Senatul Universităţii "Valahia" din Târgovişte, în 27 noiembrie 2007;

- 2009 - Acordarea titlului de "Cetăţean de onoare al Oraşului Baia de Aramă, pentru merite deosebite" de către Consiliul Local al Oraşului Baia de Aramă, Judeţul Mehedinţi.

 

   Ocupaţii:

1. Activitate de cercetare ştiinţifică în cadrul secţiei de "Laseri şi Plasmă" (condusă de prof. dr. I.I. Agârbiceanu, membru corespondent al Academiei Române) a Institutului de Fizică Atomică:

1956-1961 - cercetător ştiinţific ajutor;

1961-1966 - cercetător ştiinţific;

1966-1969 - cercetător ştiinţific principal;

1969-1973 - şef de laborator;

   Funcţii de conducere în învăţământul superior:

·  mai 1981 - septembrie 1989 - prorector al Universităţii "Politehnica" din Bucureşti;

·  ianuarie 1990 - februarie 2002 - şeful Catedrei de Fizică a Universităţii "Politehnica" din Bucureşti.

·  martie 2002 - martie 2004 - directorul Departamentului de Fizică, al Universităţii "Politehnica" din Bucureşti.

 

   Domenii de competenţă în cercetarea ştiinţifică

   (i) Domenii principale actuale: interacţia radiaţiei laser cu materia şi optică neliniară.

   (ii) Alte domenii: metode optice ale spectroscopiei hertziene (pompaj optic şi dublă rezonanţă magneto-optică); plasmă produsă cu laseri; optoelectronică; fizica şi ingineria laserelor.

   (iii) Interese de cercetare actuale: fizica şi ingineria laserilor; optoelectronică; optică neliniară; interacţia radiaţiei laser cu materia.

 

   Conducere de doctorat

- Sunt conducător de doctorat din anul 1970 până în prezent. Am condus doctoranzi în cadrul Institutului de Fizică Atomică, specializările: Fizica laserelor şi Interacţiunea radiaţiei laser cu substanţa, în cadrul Universităţii "Politehnica" din Bucureşti, specializările Fizică tehnică şi Optoelectronică şi în cadrul Universităţii din Bucureşti, specializarea Fizică tehnică şi Optică, spectroscopie, laseri. în prezent sunt conducător de doctorat la Universitatea "Politehnica" din Bucureşti, Facultatea de Ştiinţe Aplicate, domeniul fundamental Ştiinţe exacte, domeniul de doctorat Fizică, unde am 3 doctoranzi În stagiul de susţinere a tezei de doctorat.

- Dintre doctoranzii conduşi, din 1970 până În prezent, 90 au primit titlul ştiinţific de doctor şi 2 au susţinut teza de doctorat în Departamentul de Fizică al U.P.B..

 

Sunt membru al următoarelor societăţi (din anul-până În anul):

·  Societatea Română de Fizică (1968-prezent), unde în intervalul de timp 1993-1998 am fost vicepreşedinte; iar În intervalul de timp 1999-2001 am fost secretar general;

·  Societatea Internaţională pentru Inginerie Optică, (SPIE), U.S.A., (1990-2007), unde În anii 1993-1995 am fost vicepreşedinte şi în anii 1995-1997 am fost preşedinte al SPIE/RO (chapterul din România).

Dintre acestea, şapte sunt monografii în anumite domenii ştiinţifice, 21 sunt manuale pentru învăţământul superior, cinci sunt culegeri de probleme pentru învăţământul superior, 10 sunt culegeri de probleme şi teste pentru învăţământul pre-universitar. De asemenea, sunt autor sau coautor la patru cărţi în diverse domenii.

   Invenţii:

   Sunt coautor la 3 invenţii: Instalaţie de lasere în impulsuri pentru trimerizarea rezistenţelor electrice peliculare (OSIM, nr.67513 din 29.XI.1975); Motor cu ardere internă cu amestec de combustibil ionizat prin iradiere (OSIM, nr.86415 din 25.VI.1976); Dispozitiv laser cu catod cavitar (OSIM, nr.72472 din 29.IX.1979).

 

   Contracte şi granturi de cercetare ştiinţifică

   Din anul 1972 până în prezent am contribuit la realizarea a 46 granturi sau contracte de cercetare ştiinţifică, în ţară, la care am fost director sau responsabil şi la trei granturi de cercetare ştiinţifică câştigate prin competiţie internaţională (la două granturi am fost director).
